The impacts of Elvis Presley

The effects of Elvis Presley can be separated into a few gatherings. Right off the bat is the effect as far as the measure of deals that he made. He made 6 hit singles, at the time he had just been going for 10 months. This is more that any craftsman would want to get in their entire vocation. His prominence among the more youthful ages likewise assists with seeing the effect the he has made, somebody saw that there was a business opportunity for music pointed towards more youthful ages, so they set out searching for somebody; this implied he had no opposition when he was discharged onto the market. As a result of this the effect appeared to be much more prominent, there had been nothing similar to it. Among grown-ups there was additionally shock since it conflicted with everything that they accepted to be correct and acceptable. The shock implied that it must be cool to like him so his prevalence developed. He additionally had a drawn out effect in that it wasn't only the music. You could get toys and movies, records and books. The entirety of this additional to the effect of him on U.S society. The following interesting point is whether it was down to his music. Whatever anybody says unmistakably he had astounding ability; this doesn't imply that everybody preferred him yet everybody recognized that it had its place. He was regarded â€Å"A white man that can sing like a dark man†, he was something else and in this time there was nobody else like him. The measure of deals from his records likewise assists with giving proof supporting this. He made it to number to in the organization's diagrams in an exceptionally brief timeframe shows how powerful his music was. His one of a kind moving style implied that individuals were pulled in to him. In the event that they didn't care for him they despite everything watched to perceive what the entirety of the upheaval was about. The way that he spoke to the more youthful ages was the principle explanation behind his prosperity. The media, specifically the TV implied that he was consistently in the open eye. At the point when he went onto the Milton Berle appear just because they figured out how to thump Sergeant Bilko off of the top evaluations. Everybody viewed in light of the fact that the youngsters enjoyed him and the grown-ups simply needed to see this contention. The way that he was finished all his administration in the military implied that he was given assign of credit. They saw everything he might do and all that he did. This constructed a great deal of credit for him even among the grown-ups. At that point when he left the military he went straight into a TV unique with Frank Sinatra. This implied he had never truly left the open eye, since he was as yet well known enough to do TV specials. There are different things that helped however; right off the bat there was a gigantic hole in the market where young people were concerned. This implied there were numerous chances to offer something for the young people and in light of the fact that there was nothing else there would be no opposition. They likewise had a more prominent possibility of any groups discharged for the youngsters being loved. Showcasing likewise assumed a major job in his effect on society. The measure of cash that went into selling him was fantastic. Wherever that a young person went there was something to help you to remember the â€Å"King† Posters, boards and TV's shop windows. A third thing that would have helped his effect is the abundance of the US. After World War 2 they were the main nation to make it out with a benefit. Young people subsequently had the option to go through à ¯Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½7billion every year on garments and records. This implied there was assign of cash accessible to spend. In the event that individuals have this much cash to squander as a nation, the typical activity is spend it on something elegant. The last thing that helped him to turn out to be so mainstream is the movies that he gazed in. There were such huge numbers of them thus numerous individuals went to see them, regardless of whether he was the most noticeably awful on-screen character ever and the plots were no different. This implied unexpectedly there were films explicitly aimed at the more youthful age, grown-ups didn't support so the most reasonable activity was to take a brief trip and see it, if just to pester the grown-ups. So all things considered there will be there are numerous reasons why his effect on society was so extraordinary. I imagine that it can best be depicted as a blend of things. His movies and TV specials all assistance towards making him well known, however I feel that the thing to recall is individuals at last know him for his music. This is the reason I accept that his effect on society was so extraordinary. In the event that you consider the entirety of different things, they just came as a result of the music, he was just found since he could sing.

Ambien induces sleep as well as causes relaxation. It is used to treat sleep disorders such as trouble falling asleep, waking up many times during the night, or waking up too early in the morning. Precious Metals There are several different types of precious metals: gold, platinum, and silver are the most common. They are used for many different things including, of course, jewelry. Sterling silver is commonly used for both jewelry and things like serving dishes and silverware. Sterling silver is over 90% silver and contains other metals, usually copper. The reason it is mixed with copper is because fine silver is too soft to hold up to daily use and the copper adds strength to the mental. The term â€Å"Sterling Silver† has been around since 13th century. From this term stems the name of the â€Å"P ound Sterling† in the U.K. Although, the first mention of something like sterling silver comes from a few centuries prior in 1078 A.D. Other forms of silver that are commonly available include: Mexican Silver, which has a much higher pure silver content than sterling silver. Mexican silver contains 95% or more of pure silver and it is also mixed with copper for strength. Britannia Silver is also available and contains slightly more pure silver than either Mexican silver or Sterling silver. It was the common plate for Britain from 1697 and 1720. German Silver is the other more common form of silver that is available on the commercial market. It is used for many things, flatware, serving dishes, dog chains, and horse bits are some of the more common uses for German silver. Probably the most common use for silver in recent times has been for dinning. With more than 200 patterns available, from simple to lavishly decorative†¦silver dinnerware has been the stand ard since 1840 when it was considered a requirement for any house of standing. It was used to complement dinners that ranged from three courses to sometimes ten full courses, each with its own utensil(s). In the last several years, the use of sterling silver in jewelry and fashion has skyrocketed. Quality silver jewelry is easy to take care of and lasts a life-time. To minimize damage your silver should always be stored in a jewelry box or soft cloth pouch. As soon as any tarnish becomes visible, you should clean your silver with one of the many polishes available in grocery stores, hardware stores, and specialty craft stores. Gold is probably what most people think of when they think of precious metals. It is highly sought after and has been almost romanticized by a colorful history of events like the Alaskan and Californian gold rushes. Sometimes, people are said to be â€Å"bitten by the gold bug†. Gold comes in varying degrees of softness, the lighter the gold the m ore silver it contains and the stronger it is, since gold is softer than silver†¦the silver adds strength to the gold. Gold is used for many things, jewelry, coins, and dental fillings†¦just to name a few. Gold also backs currencies such as the British Pound and the Swiss Franc. Lampwork, surpris ingly, has almost nothing to do with lamps. Other than the fact that lampshades are a common product of lampwork. Lampwork is a technique employed to make glass beads. It takes a great deal of skill to accomplish this. Lampwork beads are created by winding molten glass around copper wires to produce beads. The molten glass is also sometimes worked around a mandrel to create different shapes, add color, and different things to make a unique piece. The unique quality of the beads and their beauty is why this ancient art is still flourishing today. The techniques involved in lampwork were in practice to make all sorts of practical things like glass containers and glass tubing for thousands of years before the first lamp was ever created. Depending on the definition one applies to lampworking, a great deal of early glass work can be thought of as lampworking or the parent of lampworking. Tools used by ancient man to create glass objects were simple and crude compared to what ar tisans use today, but they were effective enough to make objects that would survive the ages to be found by us today. This was one of the primary techniques of forming utensils our of glass for our very ancient civilizations, but with materials so rare and the process taking so long, these items were usually used for religious ceremonies†¦which lends them a special significance in history. As with the most expensive crystal today, these ancient pieces of lamp working were owned only by the very wealthy. We have adapted our more modern methods of lampworking from the techniques employed by ancient Egyptians to make their costume jewelry, vases, and other more decorative items. A lot of the lampwork items found from Ancient Egypt are small and highly decorated, as is common for the advanced knowledge of that time period. One thing that was very different about these ancient techniques from the methods we use today is that in ancient times, there was no burner directly in volved. The ancient pieces were, instead, created using a crude type of furnace that would slowly heat the glass so that it could be molded in to the correct shape for the item that the artist had in mind. The Romans were also involved in lampworking and were responsible for making some crucial changes in its design. The Romans were also responsible for creating the modern technique of glass blowing, which was a result of one of their many experiments with different tools to perfect their lampworking practices. Glassblowing almost caused the extinction of lampworking. It made it much easier for artists to make very intricate and colorful designs that just could not be achieved with lampworking techniques of the day. In fact, glass blowing dominated the world for over 1,000 years as the method of working with glass. It caused the Italians to be exiled by 1291 because of the fire hazard they were creating with their glassblowing. Lampworking has been revived for the creation of beads and other decorative items with many schools teaching the techniques.

Global Health Policy Making Is A Complex And Often,...

Introduction The prioritisation of specific issues in global health policy-making is a complex and often, unpredictable, process. Need, discourse, funding, and a number of other factors influence the prominence an issue takes in the policy arena. Here, it is proposed that funding is the main driver of global health policy priorities coupled with the interests of key donors and constraints on their actions. It is further argued that the control funding bodies hold over policy priorities can be detrimental when their interests do not reflect global health needs. To demonstrate this, the prioritisation of Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) in global health policy-making will be considered using the Kingdon model of agenda-setting (1). HSS,†¦show more content†¦While traditionally a national policy domain, the financial and technical assistance of global health players can be crucial to facilitating HSS efforts particularly in the fragile health systems in some developing countries (7). Over the last decade and a half, the global health community have increasingly focussed their attention to HSS. WHO, the World Bank, the G8, a number of global health initiatives (GHIs) and private foundations have participated in discourse on HSS and, in some cases, have committed substantial financial resources specifically to its cause (2). Despite this, the proportion of donor funding to HSS out of total funding for health and population decreased dramatically from 64% to 28% between 1998 and 2009 while single-disease or disease group initiatives received greater commitments (2). HSS has not attained the large-scale dedication that HIV/AIDs, and infectious disease in general have through GHIs such as PEPFAR, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) and The Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunization (GAVI); most funding directed towards HSS is restricted to the particular, usually disease-specific priorities of the donors (8). Here, the main drivers behind global

Management and Business for Silicon Metal Company- myassignmenthelp

Question: Discuss about the Management and Business for Silicon Metal Company. Answer: An Australian-based company called Silicon metal company of Australia (SIMCOA). It aims at producing the most superior quality of silicon to meet the consumers precise needs. Simcoa is located at Kemerton which is 160kms south of Perth. One and only fully integrated, silicon metal production plant in the world has been proudly operated by Western Australia. The industrial sites of Simcoa contains a sawmill, 2 charcoal retorts, 3 submerged arc electric furnaces, and a filter house for dusting the furnace off gases, and also includes product packaging and dispatch facilities. Kerryann Hall is the executive assistant of the administration department of SIMCOA. The company works 24 hours in a day and 365 days in a year. The latest plant of Simcoa uses the utmost quality of raw materials such as low ash charcoal, coal and a high purity quartzite. It includes the extremely skilled operators and technical expertise. Consequently products gain the uniqueness, consistency and great quality (S imcoa Operations, 2018). The Silicon metal company, Simcoa gets influenced by many internal and external factors. Simcoa is the pioneer of metal business in Australia therefore enjoys the brand equity. Some of the highest quality of silicon is produced in Silicon Company of Australia. Simcoa has multiple plants which includes a sawmill, 2 charcoal retorts, 3 submerged arc electric furnaces, and a filter house for dusting the furnace off gases, and also includes product packaging and dispatch facilities under the same banner (Norgate, Haque, Somerville, Jahanshahi, 2011). This further gives it the advantage of value chain efficiency. Whereby the company can utilize the best of raw materials produced by other plants and can increase the overall efficiency. The biggest weakness of Silicon Company of Australia is its growing debt-to-equity ratio. Most of its assets are finance by debt which can be precarious in the long run. Simcoa is highly dependent on domestic and a few international markets for operating the business (Bryson, 2018). This over-dependence can prove to be mortal in times of economic crisis. There are several opportunities for Silicon metal company of Australia (Fiske, 2010). The silicon metal company of Australia is the foremost supplier of silicon in domestic market of Australia. The company enjoys being the best quality producers of silicon in all over the world by having monopoly rights on best silicon products. It has the status of preferred supplier as most of the companies prefer to take products from Simcoa only. Simcoa prefer to have direct contact with the customers so that the company can meet the exact needs of the customers (Szymkowski, BultitudePaull, 1992). Apart from the opportunities it also includes so me threats such as sometimes it becomes difficult to import the products to overseas market. There could be a threat of fire as most of the work needs to be conducted with the help of machineries which can generate excessive fire at the mills. New entrants can be a threat for the company (Ho, 2014). There are some external factors which cannot be controlled by the company such as environmental, political, social, technological and economical. Political factors can be explained as the factors which imply the degree of involvement in the economy of the government (Graff, 2013). Government decides the type of goods and services to be traded in the Australian market. The priorities of the government in terms of business support impact on many areas of business. The political decisions can affect fundamental areas of business such as education and health of the employees (Shinetsu, 2018). Australia is a liberal-capitalistic democracy. For example, government might decide the importation taxes to protect the nation. Stable political environment is favorable for the growth of the company. Economic factors such as GDP, low and high cost property, currency exchange and cost of living can highly influenced the development and survival of the company (Macey, Schneider, Barbera Young, 2011 ). Economic stability is a must for Simcoa to work consistently. Technological factors such as new products and innovations can help in improvising the quality of work and products. It also helps in reducing the cost. Environmental factors such as climate change and weather which can affect the making of the products. The production of the products needs a particular temperature so it has to be maintained by the company accordingly. Therefore change in the temperature can influence the production of many products (Chemlink Australia, 2018). There are many risk factors which can highly influence the business of Simcoa. Silicon business is extremely reliant on admittance to silicon metal which is a key raw material and an intermediate product. Silicon metal is available to limited number of suppliers. Two of the competitors of silicon metal company have purchased silicon metal manufacturing assets in Europe and North America which is further sinking the manufacturing base of silicon metal company of Australia. Apart from this, Simcoa have to face number of regulations that influence the supply and price of silicon metal (Alanpatrickryan, 2017). For instance, US department of Commerce and the International Trade Commission has imposed the anti-dumping duties of up to 139.5% against the producers of silicon metal in China and Russia. This has further slab the sale of almost all the producers in these jurisdictions, which further has increased the prices of silicon metal. Currently, an investigation on silicon metal has been conducted by the department of commerce in Australia, Brazil, Kazakhstan and Norway to determine the exact prices of silicon metal (Islam, Rhamdhani Brooks, 2011). The integrated aspect of Simcoa Operations is to sustain the excellent environmental awareness and contribute in economic development of the region. Simcoa Operations has been taken many decisions which have enhanced the overall organizational efficiency. Simcoa Operations always aims at better utilization of resources to reduce the wastage of resources and consequently decrease the cost of working capital (Maye, Dibden, Higgins Potter, 2012). It has been taking his best of decisions in regards of any threats come into existence such as external problems and challenges. The external problems and challenges can be managed by adding balance and transparency to regulatory system of the organization. Simcoa should motivate its employees to increase the organizational efficiency as the motivated employees will work better a nd provide best of his efforts to the organization. It also has been encourages innovations in making of the metal to reduce the additional cost of labor (Grant, 2016). The company should always facilitate innovations in the organization to improve the organizational performance. Generally the Simcoa Operations conduct environment friendly operations to reduce the effect of activities of the plant on environment. It has been following stringent guidelines to have the control over noise and atmospheric emissions. Simcoa Operations make sure that their plant has no effluent streams and no visible toxic secretions. Simcoa Operations has very broad environmental management system and it is now looking further to upgrade the system to be the first silicon smelter. Simcoa operations performed many functions such as operational, financial, human resource, marketing, sales and CSR in order to achieve the desired strategies of the company. It aims at serving best of their products to their customers. To increase the sales of the company, Simcoa has been reaching out to overseas market. The company is using Fremantle as its main shipping port and it is able to deliver steady and quick shipping services to the major ports of the world (Ash, Fumes, 2013). Simcoa prefer to have direct contact between customers and technical staff so that the company can meet the exact needs of the customers on a regular basis. The production of Simcoa involves high purity silicon which is appropriate for the metallurgical industry and maintained grade control also delivers some unique gains for the silicones and semi-conductor industries. It provides safe data sheets to its employees so that they can use silicon and related products correctly and safely (Shabanova, Ismagilova, Salimov Akhmadeev, 2015). To achieve the overall objective of the company that is to serve the customers in a best way. Simcoa also acknowledge its responsibility to help the community of South West of Western Australia. The policy of Simcoa is to help the local business in its purchasing practices. It also helps local business in the employment of local contracting services. This further creates employment opportunities for more than 600 people in the region. They also provide opportunities to nonprofit organizations, clubs, groups and others to apply for funding for their projects, activities and events. The main emphasis of Simcoa is to support the projects and events which contribute to the growth of young people of the community (Australian Industry Visit Report, 2014). Simcoa also conducts several trainings to enhance the working skills and knowledge of the employees so that they can work effectively and efficiently. Critical Thinking Thesis Based on the Local Fashion Industry Essay Outline Topic: The fashion industry of Trinidad and Tobago. Narrowed Topic: The challenges encountered within the local fashion industry. Thesis question: Does the local fashion industry possess the vitality to triumph over its’ various challenges, and ultimately arrive at the level of the international fashion industry and hence maximise its’ success? Topic Outline1. The local fashion industry2. The challenges encountered3. The international fashion industry4. The benefits of development 5. The Solution| Sentence / Question OutlineThe current position of our fashion industry. There are numerous challenges faced by the individuals leading the industry; as well as those who would like a future in the fashion industry. At what level is the international fashion industry operating on, as compared to the local fashion industry? There are numerous benefits to be derived from the improvement of the local fashion industry. There is a need for a change in the approach to the business of fashion by those involved, in addition to the need for the future operators of the industry to â€Å"go hard† and go beyond the norm that exist in the industry today. The fashion industry is essential and moreover here to stay. Clothing is a basic need of human beings, which the fashion industry then adds creativeness too, to suit each individual’s meticulous desires, needs and style. The fashion business can be lucrative to business owners, as it is to the economy. But is the local fashion industry on this level of profitability? Is the local fashion industry capable of reaping such benefits? It’s only when we know where we are, that we can assess the situation and determine the route that we ought to go. Peter Elias has an article called ‘Trend Watch’ in the Sunday newspapers, which his advertisement usually follows. But what impact do his efforts create? Customers benefit from his clothing; he provides employment and mall owners’ benefit by their spaces being rented. Diane Hunt created the local Fashion Week, while Meiling and Claudia Pegus can be captured doing interviews for the Basia Show and other local TV channels. Diane Hunt provides employment, clothing for her target market, and the expectation of drawing more awareness to local designers through Fashion Week. But is Fashion Week marketed adequately that Trinidad and Tobago and other countries flock to see the local designers hence creating sales, or is it an event where people dress up and watch the show just for a night out? These designers don’t give out catalogues, highlight their store locations, nor do they have shopping carts on their websites for international customers or home shoppers locally to purchase. In what direction are these current leaders taking this trade to? Are these designers serious about their business or is this their lack of theoretical business education being displayed? Any business fashion manuscript tells you to be a success in this industry you need 90% business skills and 10% design skills; I am of the view that these designers appear to have only the 10% design skills. Heather Jones, Meiling and Claudia Pegus hardly if ever promote their brands. How much revenue could they possibly make with this approach to business marketing or the lack thereof? It may be seen that they don’t have sufficient funds to advertise; but is the lack of funds a viable excuse when institutions such as NEDCO, Scotia Bank and the Business Development Company offer loans to expand businesses in fashion? These established designers have better luck at approved loans as opposed to a ‘newbie’. The current leaders of the industry seem comfortable in their present position and give the impression of being somewhat non competitive, almost even laid back. Would the graduates of the UTT’s Design and Fashion Management programme now shake the present leaders out of their slumber? This may be why students have cited that designers seem threatened by their knowledge and prefer to sideline them, so as not to be put in the shade. Are these â€Å"Top† local designers really in a state of slumber, or are the challenges they face making it appear this way? These designer items are highly priced, and most citizens operate on a tight budget with little or no disposable income. This could affect these designers market share and affect their bottom line. But are these items strategically highly priced, or is it the result of challenges? These designers face higher overhead cost, as there are no fabric mills locally, and designers have to source their fabrics from overseas, then pay to ship the fabric, and pay customs taxes when it’s delivered. These charges now have to be added to the price tag of the garment, along with other operational costs. Designers also seem stagnant in extending their product lines as well because if they want to create a shoe or handbag line, they have to find an international manufacturing company, and once again pay to ship and clear these items which again would raise the proposed selling price. There is also the perception of the fashion industry of Trinidad and Tobago is not a glamorous one in which you can turn a millionaire; to the likes of Ralph Lauren. These factors pose challenges to the young people in the secondary school system that aren’t looking at the local designers as role models but instead view international programs such as Project Runway and love the thrill of the fashion industry. These young fearless minds see themselves being successful designers such as Donna Karen and others; however, parents may not understand why their children would want to do subjects such as Clothing and Textiles or Art. This industry looks unpromising in the eyes of parents with the perception that these subject choices are for slow children, or those who aren’t good in the Math, Business or Science subjects. It can be seen that there are many challenges faced by those leading the industry presently as well as those who hope to enter the industry. But can the challenges faced by the future players’ of the industry be solved if we fix the challenges faced by the current leaders? Indeed, if current leaders overcome their hurdles, be creative and industrious, a more favourable light could be shun upon the future of the industry. At what intensity is the international industry operating on, compared to the local fashion industry? When the international fashion industry is researched, the revenues made are very clear, so one can see the success level achievable, and it’s easy for one to want to be as successful as this company and work towards it. Locally on designers websites you can’t get an idea as to their level of success if so. Internationally the fashion industry is flooded with designers, who understand that if they want to stay afloat in such a busy industry, they themselves have to be busy and have a omprehensive marketing plan or strategy to enable them to stay relevant, remain profitable and most importantly, stay in business. How many local designers have ever done a marketing plan? If we search online we would see no results for local designers, but if we searched for example GAP’s marketing plan, we are sure to find their plans for several years. But is it our culture to say , I don’t need such a plan; does this show a lack of business sense? Is it our culture to just be laid back, whereas in the U. S they seem not to even have time to speak as everyone is so busy? Some might agree that it’s a culture thing, that ‘Trinbagonians don’t care whether a Sunday falls on a Wednesday’, but again it could be viewed as effects from the lack of resources locally. In the U. S a fashion house advertises online, in newspapers, in magazines, on television, on the radio, and on billboards. Locally only a few designers advertise in the newspapers. Internationally, the fashion industry sells in their country and globally as well. Local designers operate at a level which I think is alarming to anyone who is business savvy. Has it not dawned on these designers to find ways to market their collections internationally to increase sales? Do these local designers just wait for things to fall into their laps, or are they dreamers instead of go getters? No matter what good initiatives the Prime Minister takes to develop the industry, it cannot grow without these designers thinking outside of the box and making things happen for themselves. If the graduates of the UTT’s Fashion programmes with their practical and theoretical skills get into the industry with that international vigour, only then will the current fashion leaders wake up and see what they should have or could have done. Cleary it can be seen that with the current state of the local fashion industry, there is a great need for development in order to reach the full potential of the fashion industry. There should also be the inclusion of the footwear design and manufacturing programme at the UTT in order to facilitate the creation of a shoe manufacturing company in this country. Having developed the students of the programmes and more being trained in the fashion area, this would give birth to higher standards, and more innovation from the future leaders of the industry through competition, as the market would become more saturated with skilled and business savvy graduates. The youths now in Secondary schools could say that not only am I studying Clothing and Textiles and Art for CXC, but after which I shall be pursuing my Degree in Fashion Design or Fashion Management, which may fall on their parents’ ears a lot easier. Having qualified themselves in this way, they have the option of working with these designers to see how they operate and distinguish how they can operate better. Students would not be limited to working for a designer, but be able to launch their own businesses. This trickles down to creating employment and diversifying the economy. This boom would create a demand for other services such as shoe manufacturing, handbag manufacturing, garment manufacturing and even our own fabric manufacturing mill. It’s a shame that stores in Trinidad and Tobago are full of items bought from the US and a few from Margarita. Imagine how fruitful our economy would be if everything in our stores were made in Trinidad or Tobago. There is a need for a change in the approach to the business of fashion by those involved, in addition to the need for the future operators of the industry to â€Å"go hard† and go beyond the norm that exist presently in the local fashion industry. The new generation of the industry has to outshine the average standards already set in the fashion industry locally and work relentlessly towards creating a fashion industry in this country that meets the level of the international fashion trade or is great enough to even surpass it. The challenges faced by the fashion industry can be triumphed over if we want to rise above them. Nothing happens on its’ own without applying the necessary action. In order for growth to take place as the saying goes ‘you can’t know where you are going unless you know where you are’. This is the mediocre position that we are in, and if we operate with the strategies that are tried and tested by international billion dollar fashion businesses that started from scratch, only then will we be on our way to creating a Fashion industry in Trinidad and Tobago that the current leaders would not have thought ever possible or even know how to begin creating to place for Trinidad and Tobago high on the global Fashion map.

At the End of the Play Alfieri Says Essay Example

At the End of the Play Alfieri Says Essay Example At the End of the Play Alfieri Says Essay At the End of the Play Alfieri Says Essay Relationships between Eddie and Alfieri During the Play? Throughout the play Arthur Miller presents a natural growth in the relationship between Eddie and Alfieri and displays a gradual increase in emotions between them. When Eddie first approaches Alfieri with his quandaries he opens up his worries deeply and emotionally but Alfieri stays professional. Eddie: I see it in his eyes; hes laughing at her and hes laughing at me. Alfieri: Eddie Im a lawyer, I can only deal with what is provable. You understand that dont you? Can you prove that? Eddie obviously feels very happy to open up to Alfieri because he hasnt told anyone his feelings before then. Alfieri is replying in a flat and impassionate manner. Now look Eddie He is almost giving Eddie the cold shoulder and saying Eddie there is nothing I can do so wake up and deal with it. Eddie is saying things to Alfieri and coming across as frantic and desperate for an answer that will help him. Eddie doesnt calm down throughout their first talk and starts to get irritable when he feels Alfieri is patronising him. He says things like I know what is in my mind Mr. Alfieri. And Listen will you listen to me a minute. And Wait a minute Im telling you sumpm. And Mr. Alfieri I cant believe what youre telling me. Eddie obviously doesnt like the response he is getting. He doesnt like Alfieris blunt and inconsiderate reaction to his exertion. As their first talk comes to an end Alfieri shows his intelligence about his analysis of the situation and Eddie doesnt like it. Alfieri: But Eddie shes a woman now. Eddie: Hes stealing from me! Eddie actually steers away from what Alfieri said about Catherine becoming a woman and refers back to his hatred and jealousy towards Rodolpho. Alfieri: She wants to get married Eddie, she cant marry you can she? Eddie: What you talking about marry me! I dont know what the hell you talking about! Eddie gave a furious response to the hint Alfieri had given. He reacted as if it was a preposterous idea and he was totally oblivious to what Alfieri had meant. But Alfieri and Eddie both know the truth and this just adds to the confused angry and helpless state Eddie was in. In Act 2 Eddie and Alfieri meet again for the second time. Alfieri explains how he had stayed on late from work just to see Eddie. When Alfieri is introducing the it he sets the scene he says his eyes were like tunnels. Meaning Eddie had an unexplainable look in his eyes consisting of numerous emotions. His eyes had a set plan and now all he had to do was walk down the tunnels into the end result of all his problems. His eyes were deep and meaningful. This time Alfieri is more inquisitive and attentive to the conversation. The first time they met it was Eddie asking all the questions and now Alfieri is asking the majority of them. Alfieri: What does Marco say? , What did you do that for Eddie? And She actually said shes mourning for him? This all signals that Alfieri is taking a more interested view of things and is starting to view things from Eddies perspective. However Alfieri is still taking an authoritative approach to the conversation and expresses his views to Eddie in a slightly more take my advice or leave it manner. Alfieri: This is my last word Eddie, take it not, thats your business. Morally and legally you have no rights you cannot stop it; she is a free agent. So Alfieri has taken a small step out of his role of talking about the law and is now talking about morals. He is actually showing some care to Eddie and attempting to persuade him to make the right decision by talking about morals to back up his argument. Eddie replies with Didnt you hear what I told you? The truth about the situation s hit Eddie hard and Eddie is refusing to give in. It was at this point Alfieri knew Eddie was going to make a big mess of things and tried his hardest to put Eddie on the right track. The relationship between Eddie and Alfieri has expanded into more of a deep and meaningful one. This is evident in Alfieris concern for Eddie and Eddies less manic behaviour towards Alfieri. As the play is nearing the end Marco has a talk with Alfieri about what to do about Eddie. Alfieri reacts to Marcos anger with a concern for Eddie. Alfieri: You wont touch him. This is your promise? Alfieri makes it clear to Marco that he wont touch Eddie and makes Marco promise not to do so. So even now Alfieri knows this will end up traumatic, he is fighting against the inevitable and his care for Eddie shines through. When Eddie is stabbed and then dies Alfieri comes on stage to conclude the play. He does this in an honest and thoughtful manner. and even though how wrong he was, and his death useless, I tremble for I confess that something perversely pure calls to me from his memory Alfieri is making a compromise between Eddies good and bad points. When he says his death is useless, he means his death didnt solve anything and didnt make anything better. So he is saying even though his death wasnt incredibly significant, his character is shining through in Alfieris mind. Alfieri is coming to terms with the fact that Eddie isnt just another client, he is passed that, and their relationship progressed evocatively. Alfieri says and so I mourn for him.. I admit it with a certain.. alarm. This line ends the play very thoughtfully. Alfieri is admittedly upset about Eddies death. He says he admits it with a certain alarm. The pause is crucial, it means that even Alfieri knows what is going to happen is inevitable; he is still alarmed when it happened. He says he admits it with a certain alarm meaning it is a specific type of alarm. He acts as if he doesnt know what word to use but alarm fits perfectly to emphasize on Eddies abrupt and tragic death. As the play progressed it was clear to see an increase in the importance of the relationship between Eddie and Alfieri. Eddie obviously respected Alfieri a lot and actually gained his own respect back for being so strong willed and honest. Alfieri was alarmed when Eddie died even though he knew it was going to happen. This proves he has a lot of feelings for Eddie that only escaped when he had died. So throughout the play their relationship had developed into something that was significant and special.

Find your own topic - Essay Example This law protects the interest of businessman, government, society and all the stake holder to that interest. This law is procured by the congress to regulate certain interstate commerce. All the statutes put in the codified form in the United States Code. Also many statutes give the power to executive branch agencies to create regulation which generally published into federal register and codified into Code of federal regulations. Under the Chevron doctrine regulations carry the force of law. Under the principle of stare decisis many lawsuit turn into meaning of a federal statue or regulation. Legal force been carried out on judicial interpretation of such meaning. In federal constitution like the military, money, foreign affairs (especially international matters), tariffs, intellectual property (generally copyrights and patents), mail there were an express grant of power to the federal government, this was specially focused during 18th and 19th century. After the start of 20th cent ury broad interpretation of commerce and spending clauses applied on various sectors like aviation, telecommunications, railroads, pharmaceuticals, antitrust and trademarks. Certain areas like railroads, aviation federal government has developed some comprehensive schemes that interpret virtually all kind of state law, but in case of family law relatively small number of people interacts with large amount of state law in interstate and international situation. For employment law, trademark and antitrust case both federal and state law coexist. But for some areas like insurance congress refused to enact any laws as those areas are covered by state laws. II. Arguing that owen shows the horrific and piterous nature of war Essay

Arguing that owen shows the horrific and piterous nature of war - Essay Example In this poem he portrays the futility of soldiers deaths and sufferings of men who are still alive, but know that death is â€Å"around the corner†. The message of this poem is that war is senseless, war brings only grief and constant tension to be killed. In contrast to this horrible picture of war reality, the other poem â€Å"The Send Off† depicts the departure of soldiers who have not been faced with reality of war. It is possible to predict that these young boys have heard a lot of battles and operations, but none of them can imagine the casualties of war-time. In both poems, Owen uses similar techniques to impress the reader and convey the message of the poems. His structural and stylistic devices reveal a variety of interpretations as to the meaning in the poems. The title â€Å"Futility† comments on the main idea of the poem, which means death of innocent people (soldiers) who can do nothing to protect themselves. The use of past tense underlines the fact that a soldier on the battlefield is dead and nothing can bring him back. The title â€Å"The Send Off† is an example of sarcasm which questioned the necessity of new deaths. Rural landscapes in â€Å"Futility† underlines that the common sense of a battle field cannot be explained through a personal interest of people taking part in a battle because a soldier means nothing as a subject but more as a tool of a battle field. In â€Å"The Send Off†, Owen uses the phrase â€Å"down the close darkening lanes† to depicts that even nature is against futile sacrifices. The use of â€Å"once† means that a person has only one life, which cannot be â€Å"restored†; it means that soldiers can never rise from the dead. The contrast between picturesque landscapes and deaths helps Owen to emphasize the futility of war-time. The pessimism of â€Å"The Send Off† unveils the outcome of soldiers’ departure when Owen questions the necessity of civic duty or â€Å"The Send Off† which is usually accepted and accomplished

The Last of the Mohicans - Accuracy Report Essay Example for Free

The Last of the Mohicans Accuracy Report Essay Question: To what extent is the film The Last of the Mohicans an accurate portrayal of historical events? The last of the Mohicans, the film, was based on a novel by James Fenemore Cooper. It is a fictional story set in an historical time. The movie is based on The French and Indian War also known as The 7 Year War. The war started in 1756 and ended in 1763. The French and English were fighting each other for the land between their two settlements and the possession of America. At the start of the movie, it tells you that the year is 1757, the third year of the war. But in fact 1757 was the second year of the war because the war started in 1756. This means that the third year of the war would have to have been 1758. The countries involved in the war were England and France plus the Native Americans (Huron, Ohawa and Mohawks). This was accurately portrayed in the film. The cause of conflict between the two countries was the fact that the English started to setting up farms in French Territory and the French werent to happy. There had been conflict before the war but this was the strew that broke the camels back. Some Native American tribes decided to side with the countries fighting by making deals with them. The Mohawks decided to side with England but the Huron and the Ohawa tribes decided to fight with the French because the French had always been better to the Native Americans then the English had been. The locations and their names were accurate in the film. The three forts were Fort William Henry, Fort Edward and Alburney. They were all placed inside the fought over land between the French and English settlement. In the film there were three Military Leaders. These were General Webb (British), Colonel Munro (British) and General Montcalm (French). It is a historical fact that these three men did exist during this time. The movies terrain was accurate to what it was like back then. They were situated in the mountains with lots of tree cover which made it hard too fight because it gave the troops more places to hide and made it easy to ambush a moving party. The Costumes of the actors and actress were accurate to what they wear back in those times. The Military wore the red coats with their black hats, black boots and black pants. The colonists were wearing everyday farming clothes that were worn and old and the Native Americans were wearing animal skins, feathers and strange hair styles as they did back then. The Native Americans used knives and spears as weapons, which were all hand made by their people like they would have been back then. The Troops and colonists used shoot guns, swords and those guns with the swords on the end, which would have been shipped over from England and France. The weapons were accurate to those that would have been used back then. The Native Americans and France used a different style of fighting to what the English used. The English would just stand in line and fire, making it easy for them to be shot because they were not protected. Where as the French and Native Americans would hide behind trees, bushes, etc, and fire from were they where. This way the English wouldnt know where they were and they had protection. We get to see in the movie that the Native Americans were very brutal in the way they killed people and they way they scalped their victims. The English  and French killed people as easily and quickly as possible. The Native Americans liked to make people suffer. But the Native Americans were more caring when it came to the way they respected the environment. Because they lived off the land, they respected the land and I tried to give back to the land. A good example of this in the film was at the start when they killed the dear. Once they had killed it, they prayed for it and thank it for giving them food to keep them alive. They called it brother like it was part of their family. The British Army didnt care much for the colonists. For all they were concerned, the colonists were there for their convenience. They were there to help them fight and win the war. Thats all they cared about. The colonists werent happy by this. They were promised by Munro that they could go help their families if they were under attack. But when this happened, Munro would not let them go. The colonists were extremely mad. They hated the British Army for this. But the British Army and the colonists needed to stick together to fight the war. Otherwise they would not win. If they went their separate ways, they would not have enough power to defeat the French. The French were nice to the Native Americans when they first settled but when it came to the war, all they wanted was for them to fight for the French and they didnt care about the rest of the deal they made with them. The English were the same but they had treated the Native Americans worse when they had settled, so not many Native Americans liked them. At Fort William Henry, the English didnt have enough man power to beat the French. With some of the colonist sneaking out to help their familles and no back up from Fort Edward, they had to surrender because they could not win. The French promised the English that they would become prisoners of war and would be safely lead back to Fort Edward were they could stay with their families and not be harmed. But the Native Americans didnt like this. They were promised that they could kill the English and scalp them but the French went back on their word. The Native Americans were extremely mad and ambushed the English Party while they were being escorted to Fort Edward. The Native Americans killed the English and the French and scalped them. Even though the movie was historical correct in most ways, there was still some fiction in it. It is true that there was an existence of a tribe called the Mohicans (later to disappear due to European settlement) but there is no proof that there was an existence of the three heroes (Nathaniel/Hawkeye, Uncas and Chingachcook) said to be the last of the Mohicans. Munro didnt send for his daughters in the middle of the war so they couldnt have been any romance between the eldest daughter and Nathaniel. And finally, they portrayed the English to be the heroes and the French to be the villains, when really both of the countries were in the wrong so none of them were heroes. The film is an accurate portrayal of historical events, as long as you take out the main characters, the love story and the hero and villains aspect. Everything else is historically correct, from what they wore, to what the terrain was like, to the countries involved, to what weapons they used.
